Your Time Matters - Thoughts & Conversations with Wendy Smith
Join Wendy Smith in a talk about awareness, self-responsibility and taking action in caring for your personal wellbeing.
In this non-stop world of work sleep and repeat, how do you ever find the time for you? The reality is that we probably live in a near permanent state of stress yet we are totally unaware of how stressed out we are. Life has taught me a lot of lessons, and one of the most important is to make sure I make time for me. You have all heard the expressions of 'you can't drink from an empty cup' or 'drive on an empty tank' and these are so true on many levels.
Think of yourself like a phone, at some point the charge runs out and it needs to be plugged in. How often do you really plug yourself in for a recharge? With all the added pressures of life in general, many people are continually running on near empty and feel like this is normal; it is not normal and there are ways to alleviate the stressors...when you make some time! The interesting factor is that there will always be excuses not to make time for yourself, but if you want to change anything in life, there are 3 processes to go through to get a result, which we will discuss in this session.
- Awareness – becoming aware of you, your thoughts, your pre-programmed responses, your habits, your language, your perspective, your attitudes and more.
- Self-Responsibility – owning all those aspects of the self that you may or may not have been aware of.
- Taking Action – actually doing something on a daily basis to create the change.
You are the captain of your ship, no one else sails it for you, and with the right knowledge and a good breeze in your sails, you can take back control and set yourself on a new course to a better outcome.
About Wendy Smith
Following a motorbike accident at the age of 17, which left Wendy with a debilitating condition and prognosis that she would never walk again (which she does), Wendy felt compelled to find out more about her human system and get back to some sense of normality.
Years of frustration and mental health issues wandered her into the realms of NLP first and then back into sport, through both of these aspects she regained her self-worth, developed great self-awareness and began to rebuild her life and in turn help others to do the same.
What could be deemed as a negative experience launched Wendy into a career as a top athlete, coach & tutor, which quickly led to speaking, training and becoming a trauma specialist. Personal experience has shown her that there is never a problem, only a solution waiting to be found and she views life as a series of workable challenges.
Sharing her story and knowledge through speaking has enabled Wendy to impact thousands of people and help give them a different perspective on life. She has written 2 books and hosts a radio show on a Sunday morning called Reality Bites where she gets to share other people’s life stories to inspire and engage listeners.
